CCP Lapathon on a Emancipation Park today
The Caribbean Christian Publications (CCP) Lapathon 2018 which is being held under the theme, “Exercising My Faith”, runs from 6:00 am-11:00 am today at Emancipation Park.
CCP indicates that the guiding Scripture for the event is Isaiah 40:31 “…they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”.
The Lapathon is an exciting sports event with a Christian purpose for runners, walkers and joggers. It is a major fund-raiser for the non-profit organisation, CCP, which produces Sunday School books, Vacation Bible School literature and other Christian literature for the region and the Caribbean Diaspora of North and Central America. This sporting event also aims to increase awareness on the importance of Sunday School and wholesome literature for the entire family.
Appealing to families, churches, Sunday Schools, business groups and individuals to support the Lapathon, Beryl Roper, director of Caribbean Christian Publications indicated that the support for the Lapathon is necessary in assisting the organisation in funding its annual Writers’ Conference scheduled for summer this year. During the Writers’ Conference, material is written for the Caribbean Bible Lessons series of Sunday School books.
CCP was established in 1975 to facilitate the nurturing of persons in the Caribbean and Caribbean Diaspora with biblically and educationally sound, and culturally relevant Bible Study material.
Another major activity, which will take place at the Lapathon, is the dancercise/ aerobics marathon. Lapathon participants also have the opportunity to win spot prizes.
Additionally, there will be activities for children, including a hula-hoop competition, Easter egg contest and sack races.
