New police post in St Catherine community
MINISTER of National Security Robert Montague Thursday opened a police post in Green Acres, St Catherine.
He called on the residents to work against criminals, and suggested that they use groups such as the citizens’ associationto ensure that no space is left “for criminals to operate”.
Member of Parliament for St Catherine West Central Dr Christopher Tufton said the facility, which is located in the Green Acres commercial car park, fills an important gap in the area.
The minister said that he is going to “ensure that a permanent police station” is erected in the community.
Head of the Police Area 5 division, Assistant Commissioner of Police Derrick Knight said that with frequent police patrols and the capture of criminals, the community has been experiencing stability in the last few months.
