When did you start track and field?

I started track and field when I was in the ninth grade in 2015.

How did you get involved in track and field?

First I participated in sports day at school and on that day they realised my potential in sport in the high jump.

Who are your local and international track and field idols?

Locally I look to Usain Bolt as my idol; I like his confidence and charisma and I look up to that. On the international stage I look up to Mutaz Barshim, the Qatar high jumper.

How do you rate your school’s chances in this year’s ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ Championships?

This year we are definitely planning on making the top 10.

Which school do you fear most and why?

Right now I don’t fear any school I believe that we go out to compete and, in truth, the competition is really between ourselves and our event.

How important is it for a student-athlete to have a solid education?

It is absolutely important because when it comes to going out into the wider world you don’t know whether or not you will get injured in your sport and you will need something to fall back on. As the common saying goes, Education is the key to success, so you can’t necessarily depend on one thing alone. You have to have something to fall back on, and to give yourself options as well.

What are your educational achievements to date?

I currently have nine ones in CSEC, eight of which are straight ‘A’ profiles. I also placed sixth nationally in physics and chemistry, second in information technology and eighth in the region for information technology.

What is your ultimate life ambition?

My ultimate ambition is to become a biomedical engineer to study prosthetic limb development.

Who/what has had the biggest impact on your life thus far?

I would say my parents, because they have always been encouraging me and have always been a rock for me to lean on whenever I feel down and I have always just felt comfortable around them. They have allowed me to grow as a person and I wouldn’t be in the place where I am without them.
