#Champ2018: Hydel’s Salmon clocks 400m hurdles record
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Shiann Salmon of Hydel capped off a consistent season with a superb performance in the girls’ 400m hurdles open clocking a new meet record 55.78s at the 108th staging of the ISSA/GraceKennedy boys’ and girls’ Athletics Championship at the National Stadium a short while ago.
Salmon the captain of the Ferry-based school produced a late burst of speed to get by favourite Sanique Walker and come away with a comfortable victory.
She erased the old mark of 55.81s set by Ristananna Tracey in 2011.
Salmon’s time also ranked her at second in the world this year on the Under 20 list.
Walker of Vere Technical was second in 58.03 with Moisha Barnes of Edwin Allen finishing third in 58.63.
