Total enters fast food market with La Croissanterie
Petroleum retail giant Total has begun the roll-out of French-style fast food chain La Croissanterie at its service stations, the first two opening at Manor Park and Liguanea in Kingston.
Founded in Paris in 1977 by Jean-Luc Bret, La Croissanterie is well-known in Europe for innovations such as the Croissant au Ham, the ‘Croissandwich’, and the introduction of the very first paninis to the French market.
The brand’s strategic partnership with Total sees 156 stores in service stations around the world, with Jamaica being the first English-speaking market.
“The pace of life in Jamaica is perfect for La Croissanterie. People want quality experiences, but not at the risk of their time. I think that our customers will be delighted by the menu offerings which feature signature freshly baked breads and croissants, served with the French verve that has made La Croissanterie distinctive around the world,” said David Ducognon, managing director, Total Jamaica.
“Add to that we have the very best coffee, Jablum, so we are confident that the stores are going to be a great destination for customers who need a quick break,” he continued.
The menu at La Croissanterie includes sandwiches, salads, and pastries. Tweat, the chain’s sub-brand, serves hamburgers, chicken wraps, and fried chicken. Stores are open 24 hours, with available in-store dining lounges and free Wi-Fi.
The introduction of La Croissanterie is part of a thrust by Total to increase its customer touchpoints through premium petroleum and premium food.
The company’s convenience food store Café Bonjour will continue to operate alongside newcomers La Croissanterie and Tweat.
Total plans to extend both franchises to its New Kingston, Washington Boulevard and Ironshore (Montego Bay) service stations.
