Flour Mills introduces two new scholarships

The Jamaica Flour Mills Foundation has expanded its scholarships to target students who reside in the Kingston 2 communities surrounding its plant in eastern Kingston, and those pursuing studies in the field of baking.

The addition, which is part of the foundation’s 30th anniversary celebration, is expected to targeted funding approach.

“For the past 30 years the foundation has offered scholarships and grants for students pursuing fulltime studies at local universities. However, for our 30th year we’re introducing two new scholarships — the JFM Community Scholarships & Grants and the JFM Baking Technology Scholarships,” explained Megan Lindo, Human Resource Officer at Jamaica Flour Mills with direct responsibility for the JFM Foundation.

“These will be in addition to the JFM Foundation General Scholarships which are open to persons residing outside of the Kingston 2 area,” she added.

The JFM Foundation made its first award in 1988.

“Our community means a lot to us,” Lindo said. “It’s been our home for all these years and we believe that this investment in the youth will have a positive impact on the community and, by extension, Jamaica. The JFM Foundation Community Scholarships and grants will provide financial assistance to members of the community towards their tertiary education.”

The application period for the scholarships and grants is open until April 30, 2018.

Students can find additional information and application forms on the ADM website, www.adm.com/en-us/worldwide/jamaica/pages/default.aspx or at any of the following locations;
