Spanish Town teen held with gun on bus in St Mary
ST MARY, Jamaica — A young man is in police custody after police officers found a Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine containing thirteen 9mm cartridges on his person during a search at a vehicular checkpoint in St Mary yesterday.
Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition is 19-year-old Jerome McDonald, otherwise called ‘Popsy’, of Palm Grove Court, Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Reports from the Castleton police are that about 9:30 pm, McDonald was among passengers on a Toyota Coaster bus which was stopped and searched by the police at a vehicular checkpoint on Castleton main road. A knapsack he was carrying was searched and the firearm and ammunition seized.
He was subsequently arrested.
Investigations continue.
