UPDATE: Bystander shot, injured during attack on Manchester cop
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — The Police High Command of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has disclosed that a bystander was shot and injured in Christiana, Manchester this morning during an incident which left a police corporal nursing chop wounds.

According to reports, the corporal was attacked by a machete-wielding man and, in his defence, reportedly fired shots. It was during this time, it is believed, that the bystander was injured.
The lawmen said the bystander was taken to hospital and admitted in stable condition.
Meanwhile, the High Command has commended residents who rendered assistance to the police corporal, who was also hospitalised.
Residents reportedly rushed to the rescue of the corporal who was on patrol duty in the town when he was attacked about 9:00am. His attacker, a man believed to be of unsound mind, was subsequently taken into custody.
