Reggae Boyz open road trip with easy win
BASSETERRE, St Kitts (CMC) — Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz made light work of St Kitts and Nevis, brushing them aside 3-1 in their international friendly at Warner Park here Thursday night.
In the opening contest of a two-match road trip, the visitors grabbed the lead in fortuitous circumstances when St Kitts defender Justin Springer put the ball in the back of his own net in the 22nd minute.
Jamaica wasted little time in doubling the lead two minutes later when Fabian Reid scored and Chevone Marsh completed a period of dominance for the two-time CONCACAF Gold Cup finalists after he scored nine minutes from the break.
With the result all but safe at the interval, the hosts reclaimed some pride when they pulled one back in the 54th minute through Kennedy Isles.
As expected, however, there were no surprises as Jamaica kept control of the encounter to earn a deserved victory.
Jamaica were due to face Antigua and Barbuda at the Vivian Richards cricket stadium last night.
Both teams met last month in Kingston in a 1-1 draw at Sabina Park.
