Jamaican fined for using forged Guyanese passport
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 36-year-old Jamaican was on Wednesday fined GUY$100,000 or serve eight months in prison after reportedly admitting to using a forged Guyanese passport at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) in Guyana.
According to reports, Ricardo Browne went to the airport on April 23 and handed an immigration officer the forged Republic of Guyana passport bearing the name “Jermaine Samuels”.
When questioned, he reportedly said it was issued by the passport office in Guyana.
It is further reported that the immigration officer entered the passport’s number into the Border Management system and discovered that the passport was reported stolen or lost and was issued to another man with another name.
Further examination of the passport revealed that it had been tampered with.
He was subsequently arrested and charged.
As soon as the fine is paid or the time is served, Browne will be deported.
