Scores benefit from BeWellers Pharmacy health fair
THE Jamaica Suite at Phoenix Central was a bustling scene of activities last Friday as scores of people aro und the business district turned up to access services and products being offered at a health fair held by BeWellers Pharmacy.
The fair was in celebration of the pharmacy’s first anniversary.
People from all age groups had access to blood pressure and blood sugar testing, eye screening, among other things.
They were also presented with health tips and guidelines that will enhance their lifestyle.
“It is our first anniversary and we had the choice of putting on a party, but because we are so passionate, the best way we thought that we could serve our customers was to put on this free health fair,” director Trecia Thompson told the Jamaica Observer.
Keith Cooper, one of the beneficiaries at the fair told the Sunday Observer that even though it is important to know your health he had faltered, and so when he saw the sign on a utility pole he had to seize the opportunity.
Lellieth Barrett, who had taken time off from her neighbouring office to attend the fair, was thankful to get all her checks done.
“If I am getting my health check for free, why not come over here? It is also convenient. It took lesser time than what it would take to visit a doctor to know my status. It is a good thing. You can have everything done at one place,” Barrett said as she stood in line awaiting her blood pressure test.
Like Barrett, Jodie-Ann Rowe was also informed of the fair by her co-worker.
“I did my cholesterol check, weight, height and eye tests. It was very good and interesting. They told me that my pressure and cholesterol were good, so is only my weight. I appreciate it. It was very good. At least persons get the opportunity to come and do their checks,” Rowe said, adding that she is also a customer.
