CPA secretary-general to visit Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Akbar Khan will visit Jamaica from Wednesday to Sunday, where he will meet with parliamentary officials.
On Friday, Khan is expected to also lead a CPA roadshow aimed at sensitising youth on good governance and the importance of parliamentary democracy and the role of the CPA in promoting these values throughout the Commonwealth.
The CPA is a collection of 180 national and regional legislatures which develops, promotes and supports parliamentarians and parliamentary staff to identify benchmarks of good governance and to promote the values of the Commonwealth.
The Jamaican Parliament actively participates in CPA activities and currently holds the seat on the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s Regional Secretariat.
