Gov’t to resume post-Cabinet briefings shortly
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Government says post-Cabinet press briefings are to resume shortly however, the format of it is under review, and the result will be communicated to the media and the public.
The Government’s announcement comes on the heels of the Press Association of Jamaica’s (PAJ’s) call last week for the Government to resume the meetings as a matter of urgency with President Dionne Jackson Miller noting that the “abandoned” briefings are unacceptable.
In a release this afternoon, the Information Ministry maintained that the Andrew Holness-led Administration is committed to open and accessible communication with the media and the public.
“In this regard, a series of communication activities, as part of a wider communication strategy, has been planned and so far executed to include the Prime Minister’s Quarterly Press Conferences, among others, and timely press conferences by Government ministers buttressed by other communication activities,” the ministry added.
