Ricketts commends Reggae Girlz on topping Group B Qualifiers
KINGSTON, Jamaica — President of the Jamaica Football Federation Michael Ricketts has commended Jamaica’s Senior Reggae Girlz for topping Group B in the CONCACAF Caribbean Women’s Qualifiers and, as such, moving on to the final round of the Caribbean Qualifiers to be held August 25 to September 2.
“I know it was challenging with a report of over 11,000 persons in attendance in the final deciding match, the vast majority cheering on Haiti. From all accounts the Girlz showed determination and resolve as well as good tactical and technical skills” stated President Ricketts.
“The coaching staff must also be highly commended for strategically ensuring that the team accumulated enough goals in the event that goal difference became the deciding factor,” he added.
The president also expressed appreciation to the Ambassador of Jamaica’s women’s football program, Cedella Marley, for her efforts to secure funding to ensure that a pre-tournament camp was held in Orlando.
“The JFF expresses thanks to the Bob Marley Foundation and the Alacran Foundation for its partnership.”
Ricketts also said the JFF would do “all within its capabilities” to ensure the squad gets the necessary support and preparation to do well in the next stage so that Jamaica can make it to the CONCACAF Championship to be held in October in the USA.
