SAINT International’s 14th staging of StyleWeek Jamaica begins tonight and runs until Sunday with multiple events across several venues in the Corporate Area.

The event was launched at Eden Gardens in St Andrew on Monday evening.

Tonight sees the opening event, Posh In Black at @twentythree, New Kingston. On Thursday night StyleWeek Jamaica moves to the French Embassy for a red carpet affair called French Elan. On Friday morning, SAINT will host Careers in International Fashion Symposium — and later that night, City Style — Part 2 will take place at Ocean Boulevard, downtown Kingston. Fashion Block will now be held on Saturday night on Knutsford Boulevard, New Kingston. StyleWeek Jamaica culminates on Sunday night with International Mecca of Style on the roof of the Digicel headquarters in downtown Kingston.

“In previous years, all the events, with the exception of Fashion Block in New Kingston, were invitation only. Due to demand from the public we’re allowing limited ticket sales for several of our events over the duration of StyleWeek,” Deiwght Peters, CEO of SAINT International, told the Jamaica Observer.

The availability of tickets is one of the several changes StyleWeek Jamaica has made for its 2018 staging.

“Fashion Block used to be the climax on Sundays. However, we got feedback from patrons not wanting to stay late given that many would have work the following morning, so we’ve switched it up this year placing it on Saturday night instead,” explained Peters.

This year SAINT International will also attempt to use its international cache to shed light on fashion as an industry by partnering with the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) and the Urban Development Corporation (UDC).

“We were always deliberate in creating an event that maintains the aspirational appeal of the fashion industry but staying rooted and connected to the heart of our Jamaican culture,” he said.

Along with the JBDC, SAINT International has created a programme dubbed Irie Magic to teach all facets of the fashion business and will see 10 of the designers that have participated make their debut during StyleWeek. City Style – Part 2 and the International Mecca of Style finale are being held in downtown Kingston as the UDC, with SAINT’s help, hopes to reinvigorate local and international interest in the area and develop its credentials as a Caribbean fashion hub.

“StyleWeek puts capital city Kingston in the centre of global glamour in a special and unique way,” he said.

Across the five fashion events, SAINT touts 20 top local designers to be joined by international fashion designers from Colombia, Canada, New York, London, and Paris.

“Several are unveiling collections exclusively at StyleWeek,” Peters explained.

They’ll be backed up by the company’s huge roster of international models like Tami Williams, Brad Allen, and Haytal Blackwood, to name a few.
