So far, so good for Royal Aviator
Royal Aviator , a consistent sort with one win, one second- and two third-place finishes from eight career starts, will head into the Lotto Classic for the Governor’s Cup in order to get a good feel of his possible Derby potential and accompanying worth.
Bred by Everdeen Maxwell Reeves and owned by Test Pilots, Royal Aviator’s participation in the May 26 Lotto Classic was confirmed by his trainer Marvin Campbell.
“Yes, I can confirm that, with all continuing to go well, my bay colt by Casual Trick out of the Louis Quatorze dam Royal Victress will be in the line-up to face the starter in the Lotto Classic on May 26.
“There is still some time to go, but up to this point things have been going well with his preparation. The Governor’s Cup, as we all know, is a handicap race and getting the weight allowance should help him throughout the race. He has always shown that he will enjoy a distance of ground and we are hopeful that things go well for him.”
How does he look so far in his general appearance and how are his preparation gallops coming along thus far?
“He ( Royal Aviator) does look good so far in his appearance, but he still has another work before the race, so let us hope that things continue to go the way they are going at present,” the hopeful trainer told this publication.
Royal Aviator galloped last Saturday morning, and timed a reasonable 1:28.4 for seven furlongs (1,400m).
Royal Aviatior is expected to have one more gallop before running in the Lotto Classic.
