Knowing it’s the only day of the year they can truly call their own, Sandals and Beaches Resorts treated over 400 educators to a luxury-included day at their resorts for Teachers’ Day. Sandals and Beaches resorts in Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Negril and Whitehouse, Westmoreland planned a day of activities for the teachers, which included fine dining in both a la carte and buffet styles, interactive games, and entertainment provided by team members of the Sandals chain.

The resort chain also gifted the teachers with spa teasers, day-passes, free weekends, and catamaran cruises.

Amid the celebration, a special nod was given to Mount Salem Primary School for 50 years of service in education. The school’s principal, Ann Ivey, was also presented with a brand new laptop to assist with information technology lessons.

“We just wanted to say thank you to the teachers who continue to educate our children. Many of our team members are also past students of the schools that Sandals Resorts honoured, so that goes to show how much our tourism industry and Jamaica need these educators,” said Carl Beviere, general manager of Sandals Montego Bay.

In the western parishes of Hanover and Westmoreland, some 65 teachers donned swimwear and enjoyed pool and beach activities at Sandals Negril and Beaches Negril, while 50 of their colleagues were treated to a private catamaran cruise along Jamaica’s southern coast by the Sandals South Coast team. Sandals and Beaches Resorts in Ocho Rios feted over 200 teachers from 43 schools in St Ann and St Mary.

“I want to thank Sandals for taking the time to make our teachers feel special. The service received at Sandals South Coast during our Teachers’ Day activities was exemplary and when a company like Sandals shows appreciation in this way it really speaks volumes to the important role our steachers play — and it is truly commendable,” said Education Officer Yvonne Hardie.
