Flash flood watch in effect for western parishes
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica has issued a flash flood watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Westmoreland, Hanover St James, Trelawny and St Elizabeth effective until 5:00 pm today.
This is due to a trough across the western Caribbean that continues to produce unstable weather conditions west of the island.
Although the forecast is for generally partly cloudy and windy conditions across eastern and central parishes, light to moderate and at times heavy showers and isolated thundershowers are still likely across western sections of the island today.
A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed through further releases from the Met Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.
