Even though the racing year is well into the native-bred three-year-old Classic season, there are still talented horses lurking around in the barns at Caymanas Park.

One such talent could very well be the Fitzroy Glispie-conditioned bay colt Master Of Hall.

Racing for the first time on Labour Day (Wednesday, May 23, 2018) over seven-and-a-half furlongs (1,500m) in a maiden condition race for native-bred three-year-olds, Master Of Hall came with a strong late surge inside the final furlong (200m) to win going away by five-and-a-half lengths.

The final time of 1:34.0 for the distance was a clear indication that this Emperor Hall – Noassemblyrequired offspring has talent and, with more room for improvement, Master Of Hall could well develop into a quality racehorse.

Glispie doesn’t want to jump the gun too early, but he is indicating possible starts in the season’s two final Classic races — the Jamaica Derby in late June and Jamaica St Leger in July — for Master Of Hall.

Glispie also said that with signs of staying ability, Master Of Hall will be competitive in both the Derby and St Leger.

“Well, it was an excellent performance by Master Of Hall to win here today [Wednesday]. He ran a very good race although the win was expected.

“ Master Of Hall is a horse that I like. I got him late and after a few training sessions, I realised that he has ability and I even entered him in the Lotto Classic for the Governor’s Cup.

“However, I didn’t start him in the Governor’s Cup as I didn’t get a race in time for preparation, so I had to back out of the race. I think he will be there for the both the Derby and St Leger later on.

“I am going to give Master Of Hall a run before the Derby at the non-winners of two level to keep him in shape. But I do believe he has the ability to stay and will do himself justice,” Glispie said.

Master Of Hall, under Oneil Scott, sat in third place for most of the way as Sendamessagetomama (Oneil Beckford) led ahead of Anwar (Oneil Mullings who replaced Robert Halledeen).

Sendamessagetomama tried to escape the field when he opened up at the half-mile (800m) mark over Anwar with Master Of Hall chasing.

Turning for home, Sendamessagetomama continued to lead, but when Scott hustled up his mount in deep stretch, Master Of Hall responded well and blew past Sendamessagetomama inside the final furlong (200m) for an emphatic win in the end.

Sendamessagetomama held on for second place with Trickster (Jerome Innis) coming through for third place.
