PICA’s citizenship and immigration unit relocated
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) says effective Monday, May 10, its citizenship and immigration units will operate from a new location at 8 Waterloo Road, Kingston 10.
In a release this afternoon, PICA said with this change, individuals wishing to obtain these services will no longer do so at the agency’s head office at 25 Constant Spring Road.
Additionally, customers who have done business with these units prior to June 11 and are awaiting their documents will be required to go to the new location in order to collect them.
PICA also advised that only citizenship and immigration services are being relocated and passport customers will still be accommodated at the agency’s Constant Spring Road office.
The relocation of PICA’s citizenship and immigration services forms part of the agency’s plan to enhance the delivery of service to customers by improving its operating space and creating more parking areas for customers who require access to the agency’s products and services.
Other initiatives that have been implemented in recent times to ease the pressure for passport customers using PICA’s head office include: the introduction of a passport drop box and courier service; early opening hours for passport applicants; increase in the number of passport mobile service offered and opening of regional offices in other parishes.
In the near future the PICA said it plans to undertake further rationalisation of its head office space to better accommodate passport customers.
PICA added that it is committed to continually find ways to improve the quality of service that it provides its customers and ultimately, all units — passport, immigration, citizenship and corporate services — will be adequately housed at one location when the agency constructs a permanent facility at 21 West Kings House Road.
