PICA’s citizenship and immigration functions relocated
THE Citizenship and Immigration Units of the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) will operate from a new location at 8 Waterloo Road, Kingston 10, effective June 11.
Passport customers will, however, still be accommodated at the agency’s 25 Constant Spring Road offices.
PICA, in a release yesterday, said the relocation of its citizenship and immigration services forms part of the agency’s plan to enhance the delivery of service to customers by improving its operating space and creating more parking areas for customers who require access to the agency’s products and services.
“Other initiatives that have been implemented in recent times to ease the pressure for passport customers using PICA’s head office include: the introduction of a passport drop box and courier service; early opening hours for passport applicants; increase in the number of passport mobile services offered and opening of regional offices in other parishes.
“In the near future the agency plans to undertake further rationalisation of its head office space to better accommodate passport customers, the release said.
Said the release: “PICA is committed to continually finding ways to improve the quality of service that it provides its customers and ultimately, all units — Passport, Immigration, Citizenship and Corporate Services — will be adequately housed at one location when the agency constructs a permanent facility at 21 West Kings House Road in St Andrew.”
