KFC finds formula with ‘Crazy Tuesdays’ deal
KFC Jamaica seems to have found the formula with its new ‘Crazy Tuesdays’ deal, which has left branches across the Corporate Area packed.
The deal, which started last week Tuesday, offers seven pieces of chicken for what is considered a low price of $995. Unlike others, the deal does not include a drink or fries.
On Tuesday when the J amaica Observer visited the fast-food store’s branch on Half-Way-Tree Road in Kingston, the lines extended to the door with some customers opting to sit while awaiting their order.
Cashiers and servers, clad in “Crazy Tuesdays” branded gear, worked briskly to complete orders while anxious customers waited in line.
One patron, Veneika Brown, said she had been waiting for more than 30 minutes for her meal.
“I really hope this is worth the wait because it’s a very good deal; when I heard about it I just had to come,” said Brown.
She added that, as a regular customer, she was anticipating the same quality of food and service that she received on normal days.
Another customer, who declined to give her name, said this was her second time ordering the deal and although the wait was long last time, this week she still came back for more.
“Last week they had to cut off cashing at 1:00 pm because the volume of orders was so large and they had to finish serving those with tickets so that people could fit inside,” said the woman.
“Mi think the deal [is] reasonable and can be shared with others. Me nuh mind not getting any fries anyway and me nuh drink soda,” said customer Kayon Sewell. “As long as the deal is here me and mi fren will be sharing it for lunch.”
KFC’s New Kingston branch was also packed and it was obvious that some customers were disgruntled.
“I have been waiting for over an hour,” said one customer, who opted not to give her name.
She told the Observer that she had travelled from Half-Way-Tree, believing that the New Kingston branch would’ve been less packed.
“… I don’t like how they go about serving,” she said, suggesting that priority be given to customers buying the special Tuesday deal.
Daniel Folkes agreed, adding that “the only problem I have with the deal is that they need to upgrade on the system to manage the crowd, in terms of getting more staff. But I will continue supporting this deal as long as it is around. I find it convenient because I can share the meal with other friends.”
Store manager at the New Kingston branch Robert Thompson said the branch had to bring in additional staff for the Tuesday rush.
He told the Observer that the crowd was more than two times the normal volume that would come in on a Tuesday. Thompson said the only other time the location was as packed, was at Christmas or at the end of the month. He could not say how long the promotion would last.
