Three men arrested as cops seize 1,000lbs of ganja
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Three men, who reportedly among a group which attempted to flee the police in St Elizabeth last night, were arrested as the lawmen seized more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana during an operation.
According to the constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), a team of officers from the Narcotics Division observed the group of men off-loading several knitted plastic bags from a Hiace bus.
It is further reported that on the seeing the police officers, the men ran, however, three of them were captured. The Hiace bus was searched and 24 knitted bags containing compressed ganja were reportedly seized. The police said the drug has an estimated value of $4,000,000.
The Hiace bus along with a Honda CRV and a Toyota Altis motorcar were also seized.
CCU said the three men will be interviewed in the presence of their attorney(s) before charges are laid.
