Up-and-coming singjay Jerry Spinit says all is set for the launch of his EP on Monday night at Triple Century Sports Bar in New Kingston.

The set, titled 20 Spinit, features seven original songs including a track titled Secret Señorita, which he said is aimed at getting him into the expansive Latin music market.

“The 20 represents the age at which I started out in the music business, while the inclusion of my stage name is a continuation of the promotional efforts my management team and I have been making,” said the 24-year-old artiste whose given name is Jerome Dawkins .

Spinit has been steadily making a name for himself over the past two years, performing at stage shows and recording more and more of his original material, mostly at Audio Traxx Production in Old Harbour.

Last August he did a tour of England which saw him performing at the Hot Caribbean Carnival, regarded as one of Notting Hill Carnival’s hottest after-parties at the O2 Academy in Islington.

“It was good exposure for me,” he said. “It was really like a soca party. I ran out and gave them Gone Out and the whole place get crazy; and then when mi drop the Adubeh (his 2013 release on the Ghurabaa Riddim) that jus’ shell dung the place.”

The tour, which was organised by Syndicate Talent Agency, his management team in London, also took him to Peckham and Croydon and included radio interview promotions.

“Also, I have to wave Jamaica’s flag high anywhere I go; represent my country to the best of my ability,” he said before making an appeal to his fellow Jamaicans to shun violence.

Since his return to Jamaica, Spinit has continued writing, and said that his plans for the future include more studio work and getting more exposure locally and internationally.

“One of my dreams is to be on a world tour, sharing the stage with Shaggy, Beres Hammond; tek on the whole European market, Australian market, Asia, lock down Africa, North and South America — to just have the world in a way that they listen and gravitate to my music,” added the former St Catherine High School student.
