B3 for Parents
Father’s Day weekend got a well-deserved boost courtesy of B3 Parenting, and was geared towards real parenting solutions and motivation for Jamaican boys. Activities kicked off Friday evening with an intimate gathering in upper Saint Andrew to welcome Troy Kemp, executive director at the National Centre for the Development of Boys and international guest speaker. Guests mingled over Appleton Estate-crafted cocktails and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres courtesy of Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records. The highlight of the evening was the surprise presentation to Kemp of a painting entitled I’ll Carry You (oil on canvas) by artist Beverley Neita-Jackson.
‘Modern Parenting Chat’ was the theme Saturday evening at the Serengeti Bistro, Hope Zoo. It was an evening of honest sharing about and real solutions to several of the problems facing Jamaican parents. Modern Parenting was designed to help parents understand how they can best connect with their children and to provide support on their parenting journey.
The panel highlighted anecdotes, advice, answers and more from Jamaican dads Wavell Hinds, Christopher Ramson, Chris Dehring, John Azar, Omar Azan and Bedi Walker; as well as Jamaican moms Yaneek Page, Chalanie Stiebel, Diahann Gordon-Harrison, Haedi-Kaye Holmes, Melanie Schwapp and Marcia Forbes.
