Rousseau Primary School principal is JTA president-elect
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Principal of Rousseau Primary School in St Andrew, Owen Speid, is the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) president-elect.
The 2018 JTA president-elect elections were held between June 18-22 and it saw Speid going up against Jasford Gabriel, principal of Manchester High; Wayne Mullings, principal of Louise Bennett Coverly All Age in St Andrew; and David Powell, acting principal of Porus High School in Manchester.
A release today from the JTA revealed that 12,763 votes were cast in the elections, with candidates receiving votes as follows:
Jasford Gabriel: 3193 votes
Wayne Mullings: 2258 votes
David Powell: 1836 votes
Owen Speid: 4003 votes
Speid is to be officially proclaimed at the official opening of the JTA’s Annual Conference scheduled for the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa, Montego Bay from August 20-22.
