CARICOM heads arrive at summit in St James
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The Caribbean Community (Caricom) heads of government are now gathering at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St James for the 39th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community.
The conference is being held under the theme: “Building stronger, resilient and secure partnership for prosperity”.
During the three-day conference, which will come to an end on Friday, a number of critical issues relating to the region will be tackled.
Among the issues are: economic and social advancement of the countries of the region.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who assumed chairmanship of the Conference of Heads of Government on July 1, is expected to give remarks in a short while.
Other remarks are expected from: Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, Secretary General; Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda; Leith Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada; Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados and Jovenel Moise, President of Haiti.
Meanwhile, Justice Adrian Saunders today took over from Sir Dennis Byron as the third president of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).
He was sworn in earlier today at the Montego Bay Convention Centre prior to the upcoming opening ceremony.
