Don Tippa, one to watch
In recent months, several artistes from rural areas have been making an impact on the music scene. Names including Rygin King, Jahfrass and Teejay easily come to mind.
Glendevon, St James recording artiste Don Tippa is hoping to join that list. He is currently promoting his latest single Watch Out Fi Dem.
The song was released last month via Hill Production and the singjay is upbeat about the response he has received so far.
“I’m getting a lot of positive feedback with my new song; it’s doing very well. My team and I are putting a lot of promotion behind it, and it’s paying off. There are several disc jockeys playing locally and abroad,” said Don Tippa.
Watch Out Fi Dem is a taste of what the artiste has in store. He plans on releasing his still untitled debut album in the last quarter of this year.
The album will feature production from Ten Floor Records, YBNE, Giddimani Productions, Grezzy Productions, Weedy G and House of Riddim.
“I’m currently working with several producers on the album. It’s going to be mainly reggae songs, but I might add a few dancehall tracks. The project is coming together nicely. We should be done recording and mixing by the end of the summer,” he said.
Don Tippa is currently on a promotional tour of Europe, which includes appearances in Germany, Hungary and Austria.
Born Barrington Hall, Don Tippa is a past student of the St James High School. He launched his recording career in 2010 with You Mi Want on the Ten Floors Records imprint.
