A Matter of Time, Protoje’s fourth studio album, was launched at The Cove in St Andrew on Saturday evening.

The occasion saw the viewing of videos for the album’s songs, a documentary on the making of the album, new music from Protoje’s protégés, a meet-and-greet session with him, and juggling from DJ Drumline and Big One. Copies of the album and merchandise were also on sale.

“We put in the work and we prepared. dat a all me do, try fi work pan music every day,” he told the Jamaica Observer. “I’ve been getting so much love. it’s been so positive and I always focus on the positive; that’s my energy right now and I’m going to channel it into more positivity.”

A Matter of Time was released on June 29 on the In.Digg.Nation Collective/Overstand Entertainment and Easy Star Records imprint. The 10-track set is produced by Phillip “Winta” James. It now sits at number six on the iTunes 100 Reggae Albums chart.

Before showing new visuals for the album, fans were taken on a journey through time of videos from his previous work, like No Lipstick from the 2011 album 7 Year Itch and Not A Marijuana Song (The 8 Year Affair, 2013).

Protoje invited Sevana and Lila Ike, acts from his camp, to premiere visuals for the songs Sometime Love and Second Chance, respectively. Artists and photographers were also given their credits when the visuals for each track were displayed.

Patron Sashanee Stone attended the launch of Protoje’s last album Ancient Future in 2015, and copped his new album at the venue.

“I loved Ancient Future and I was praying that this would live up to my expectations. and after hearing it, line after line and the relevance of the thoughts and just the epicness of whatever is being said, it’s very prolific, it’s in your face — I absolutely love it,” she said.

The singjay left for France yesterday to start his five-month European tour, which includes countries like Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy and the United Kingdom.
