Sandy Bay final berth in Hanover FA Major League
LUCEA, Hanover — Former champions Sandy Bay United could book a semi-final place in the Hanover Football Association Island Lux Beach Park / Negril and MP Ian Hayles Western Hanover/CDF Hanover FA Major League today, if they can beat bottom of the league Logwood United, when they meet at Watson Taylor Park, in a cross-zone game, set to start at 3:00 pm.
Sandy Bay are in fifth place on eight points, two behind fourth-placed Johnson Town with both teams playing six matches.
Logwood United last week, had a 4-2 win over Claremont and are now on three points, one less than second-to-last-placed Hopewell Chargers, while three other teams are all on six points each.
On Sunday, joint leaders Lucea FC will meet third-placed Mt Pelier DC, both teams separated by two points with the winner guaranteed to take over the lead in the points table.
Lucea FC are tied on 13 points with Super Star YC, while Mt Pelier DC are on 11 points, all from six games played.
Lucea FC are coming off a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Claremont last weekend. Sandy Bay beat Esher United 1-0, while St Simon edged Johnson Town 1-0.
Ajah Daley gave Claremont the lead after just two minutes, but Chovian Anderson scored his league-leading sixth goal to bring his team level, before Orlando Barrett scored the winner in the 68th minute.
Shamar Brooks’s 69th-minute goal was enough for Sandy Bay against Esher, while Orlando Bird scored in the 87th as St Simon upset Johnson Town.
