KINGSTON, Jamaica — King Alarm says it has dismissed the male security guard who was seen on video slapping a licensed firearm holder on July 3 at an apartment complex on Braemar Avenue in St Andrew.

The action by the security company comes on the heels of a press conference that was called last Thursday to clarify relating to the incident.

King Alarm Managing Director John Azar, at the press conference, said that the female guard who was seen kicking the man was dismissed, while two males, one a supervisor, were to face a disciplinary hearing.

The supervisor was reportedly suspended for failure to take charge of the situation while the other guard retained an attorney.

In a response today, Azar said “we had the third and final disciplinary hearing last week Thursday afternoon. This was in relation to the officer who appeared to slap Mr Woolery while he was being subdued. After the said hearing, his employment was terminated.”

Azar said the guard has already filed an appeal to the decision through his attorney “as is his right under the labour relations code. That appeal hearing will be held at a future date to be agreed upon.”

The King Alarm guards were seen in a video recording circulating on social media that showed them aggressively attempting to subdue a licensed firearm holder after he discharged his firearm and reportedly injured a resident security guard at an apartment complex in New Kingston.
