Kingston store owner arrested in seizure of counterfeit goods
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police are reporting that more than $950,000 worth of counterfeit goods were seized yesterday and a man arrested and charged in relation to the seizure.
Owen Jackson, 44-year-old of Sullivan Avenue, Kingston was charged with unlawful use of trademark following police operations at his businessplace in Constant Spring Plaza, St Andrew.
Reports are that a search was carried out at the premises about 1:30 pm and 192 pairs of counterfeit sneakers, marked with the names and logos of popular brands were found.
Police say on close inspection of the items, they were found to be subpar to the packaging and labelling standards of the official rights holders.
Jackson was offered bail with surety in the sum of $300,000 and is to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Monday, August 13.
