Cop reports to station in stolen vehicle
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A district constable, who police investigators summoned over a stolen motor vehicle, yesterday reported to the station in another motor car that was also reported stolen.
The accused is assigned to the St Catherine South Police Division and was identified as the seller of a Nissan Tiida motor car that lawmen stopped on the East/West leg of Highway 2000 in St Catherine about 2:30 pm yesterday.
According to reports from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the vehicle was examined and discovered to be stolen.
Following allegations that the car was bought from the district constable, investigators summoned him and he reportedly arrived at the station in a Toyota Axio motor car. CCU said checks were made and that car was discovered stolen from a Westmoreland address.
The district constable, whose name is being withheld, was subsequently taken into custody, the police said, adding that the Inspectorate of Constabulary (IOC) and the St Catherine South police are investigating.
