BETTER BETTING
Following major changes to its tote operating system at Caymanas Park over the last few weeks, the promoter of local horse racing, Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), says it is now ready to usher in a new era in betting.
The move from the United Tote system to that of AM Tote, according to SVREL, is providing greater and easier opportunities for betting options offered to punters via a more advanced technological platform.
The area probably most affected by the change in the tote arrangements is that of mobile betting.
Now punters, by the use of the new online betting platform, can place a variety bets offered by the promoting company using any of the popular electronic devices available to consumers — including desktop computers, telephones and tablets — from anywhere they choose to place bets.
“We were stymied in the past by the outdatedness of our betting platform. With this change, our options of providing clients with easier and varied ways of betting have been significantly increased,” revealed Christopher Wills, information communication and technology (ICT) manager at SVREL.
All bets currently offered by SVREL, including the exotics and bets which carry the popular ‘Single Winner Bonus’ can be accessed on the new betting platform.
“All our bets are on the new platform and that includes betting on simulcast races from the overseas racetracks which are carried by SVREL on a daily basis. So is both betting on local races and overseas races along with — and I stress — all carryovers which accompany these wagers,” Wills informed.
The SVREL ICT manager then explained how the new platform can be accessed by punters and its present limitations.
“You must understand that at present we are still tweaking, checking and changing to get it right for all concerned.
“Right now we are offering two types of accounts: a same day and a permanent. The same day at this time is only available at Caymanas Park, but we are already testing to roll out to the Offtrack Betting Parlours across the island. For the same day account, all one needs to do is go to one of the regular betting window at Caymanas Park and ask for the account and place their money in the account. The minimum amount for the same day account is $1,000, with a maximum of $100,000. The same-day account lasts for 24 hours.
“For the permanent account, one has to go to our current website, www.caymanasracetrack.com, click on the mobile betting button (M-Bet) and register. Once registered, one can then add money at the track or at any Paymaster outlet in Jamaica. The minimum amount for the permanent account is $1,000, while there is no maximum. We are already exploring other options with providers to allow bettors to place money into their accounts directly from the website.
“After registering the account of choice (same day or permanent), just go to our direct online link, which is — mbet.caymanasparkracing.com , and place your bets.
“If you are a winner, your account is topped up immediately after dividends become official,” Willis said.
Wills then encouraged bettors to offer their suggestions, queries and questions by calling 876-988-2524 Ext – 3009 and 2022.
