Police post now at Portmore Toll Plaza of Highway 2000 East-West
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Representatives of TransJamaican Highway Limited (TJH), the developers of Highway 2000 East-West, last week handed over the keys to a new police post at the Portmore Toll Plaza in St Catherine to Deputy Commissioner of Police Clifford Blake.
The approximately 320-square foot space with two offices, a kitchenette, and restroom facilities — as well as 20 police-branded high-reflection vests — were handed over by Managing Director of Jamaican Infrastructure Operator Limited (JIO) Thomas Lamothe.
JIO, which operates the East-West road network, stated that the post means a closer relationship and easier transference of information with Traffic and Highway Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
Superintendent Preston Wray, Commanding Officer for Highways, agreed that the partnership does the public good.
“The partnership between the Highway 2000 East-West Operator and the police greatly assists our efficiency and effectiveness. We are maintaining a presence to ensure that the motoring public goes about their ways in a safe manner,” Wray said at the handover.
