Hermitage Dam water level falls to 42.5%
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Hermitage Dam is now at 42.5 per cent capacity, down from the 48.9 per cent that was reported by the National Water Commission (NWC) last Tuesday.
The NWC made the disclosure on social media today while telling members of the public to “Remember to #recyclewater as much as possible and #SaveEveryDrop! #conservewater!”
The dam, which has the capacity to hold just over 400 million gallons of water is seeing decreased levels due to a reduction in rainfall.
On July11, Minister of Local Government and Community Development, Desmond McKenzie said the forecast for the three-month period from July to September is for higher-than-normal temperatures with lower-than-normal levels of rainfall.
