Manchester Municipal Corporation fraud accused awaits trial date
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A trial date is expected to be set when the accused in the Manchester Municipal Corporation corruption case returns to court on September 14.
Presiding judge Courtney Maxwell gave instructions on Monday that prosecutors should ensure that all the evidence is made available to the Manchester Parish Court before the eight accused are back.
Previous attempts to set a trial date have failed because of outstanding statements from investigators that are necessary to progress with the matter.
Attorneys for the accused have expressed dissatisfaction at the slow pace at which the case is moving.
The matter has been before the court since 2016.
