UDC board orders audit of Dunn’s River Falls
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Board of the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) has ordered a detailed examination into the operations of the St Ann Development Company (SADCO), specifically in relation to Dunns River Falls.
The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), in release today, said the board is of the view that based on internal preliminary reports there is sufficient cause for concern.
“As such, given UDC’s commitment to integrity, the organisation has contracted international specialists to perform an examination of the governance and control environment, as well as evaluate any potential weaknesses or risk areas,” the OPM said in its release.
OPM added that the UDC will act “swiftly to consider and, as appropriate, address concerns raised upon conclusion of the examination.”
Chairman of the UDC Ransford Braham and Chairman of SADCO Joey Issa are both of the view that these audits are necessary to ensure that the respective boards fulfil their responsibility for good governance, accountability and transparency.
Dunns River Falls will remain open to the public for recreational activities during the auditing process, UDC said.
