Licensed firearm holder arrested after alleged assault
ST JAMES, Jamaica — A licensed firearm holder was taken into police custody after he allegedly assaulted another man with a firearm, along the busy thoroughfare of Union Street in St James last evening.
The police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) a short while ago confirmed the incident saying it happened about 4:00pm.
According to reports, it is alleged that an altercation developed between the two men and the accused used a firearm to assault the complainant.
CCU said the complainant subsequently made his way to the Freeport Police Station to make a report and shortly after the accused turned up.
The accused was eventually taken into custody and his firearm sized; however his identity is being withheld as he is expected to be interviewed in the presence of his attorney.
