Unidentified man shot dead during alleged confrontation with police

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) has confirmed that an unidentified man was fatally shot by lawmen during a confrontation on Chancery Lane in Kingston last night.

A .45 semi-automatic pistol with an empty magazine and one Browning 9 mm pistol with a magazine containing eight live cartridges were reportedly seized during the incident.

CCU said the matter has since been reported to Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI) and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
