Cocaine shipment from Venezuela seized in Kingston
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The narcotics police, working alongside the Contraband Enforcement Team of Jamaica Customs, yesterday seized approximately 28 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of J$30 million at a port in Kingston.
No one was arrested in connection to the seizure.
Information from the Constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) is that about 2:30 am, while inspecting a shipping container that arrived from Venezuela, the team discovered anomalies.
CCU said that this led to a more detailed search, during which 25 packages containing cocaine were found concealed in the container.
Investigations are ongoing, the police say.
