Benzly Hype set to reclaim the spotlight
DEEJAY and TV personality Benzly Hype is reclaiming the spotlight with his new single Neva Say Bye .
The track, which features Florida musical prodigy Nick Treble, was released recently. It is produced by Hyyype Muzik and Mojo Majesty.
An accompanying video is in the making.
“The video, Neva Say Bye, is a mini-drama video and was shot on location in my family’s original hometown in Portland, Jamaica. This is something special, much more than a music video. I wrote it as a dramatic short story, this is part one of a four-part narrative. It features a new cast of actors that you will be seeing a lot of in the future, and I believe in giving new people opportunities,” he said.
The video, directed by Robin Chin and DP by Wentworth Kelly, will be released this month. In addition to the deejay, it will feature the talents of Neil John Dacosta Andrade, Latoya Tingle, and Ricton Gray.
Benzly Hype is no stranger to the camera. He starred in the television drama Mi and Mi Kru, which first aired in 2009. The series ran for a couple seasons and was built around the deejay and members (all cousins) of dancehall group Innocent Crew. Directed by Kurt Wright and Robin Chin, it also starred Audrey Reid, Professor Nuts, and Vas Blackwood.
Benzly Hype (given name Hemsley Morris Jr) is son of singer Ainsley Morris.
He shot to fame as a member of Innocent Kru in the 1990s and is known of songs including Impossible Train and I’m Innocent.
The deejay said he would be releasing a battery of new singles for an album dubbed, STAR, which will be released in the fall.
“I am going all out in 2018, this is just the first wave of my plans to revitalise dancehall with great production and great video concepts,” he said.
