Govana to make PAN debut
GOVANA will make his debut on PAN 2018-Regional 1 at Folly Oval on Saturday August 25.
The dancehall artiste, who is riding on a musical high since late last year, is looking forward to performing his string of hits for fans in Portland.
“I am ready to perform; I wish it was tomorrow,” said Govana.
Known for hits songs including Breeze, One and Move, Bake Bean and his current radio monster Champ, Govana had nothing but high praises for PAN, which continues to positively impact the lives of PAN chicken men and women across the island, especially with support from JN Small Business by way of its business development grant and workshops.
“I’ve seen snippets of past PAN events and the joy on the faces of the winners, and I love what is being done to assist the eventual winners of the competition,” he said.
He also shared what he has in store for patrons attending PAN 2018-Regional 1.
“Patrons can expect fire and a high-energy performance,” he said.
Gospel artiste Kevin Downswell and dancehall veteran Elephant Man are scheduled to return to the PAN stage.
PAN 2018, hosted by CB Foods, is a culinary extravaganza where pan chefs compete in a live 60-minute cook-off. A winner and runner-up (first and second place) are chosen from each parish to advance to the grand final on October 28 at National Stadium, and vie for the coveted title of PAN 2018 Grand Champion.
Parish winners will each receive $40,000 cash and gifts from sponsors, while the runners-up will receive $20,000 cash as well as other prizes.
Competitors representing the parishes of Kingston & St Andrew, Portland, St Thomas, St Mary, St Ann, Trelawny, and St Catherine will square off for pan chicken supremacy at PAN 2018 — Regional 1.
“This is the third time PAN will be in Portland and it’s somewhat symbolic, considering Portland is the home of jerk. But we have lots in store for our patrons as they can expect amazing food and entertainment for the entire family”, explained Alicia Bogues, regional development manager, CB Foods.
Patrons will enjoy succulent and specially priced pan chicken costing $400 throughout the day, in addition to bar deals courtesy of PAN partners Wisynco (through its Wata, Tru-Juice and Coca-Cola brands) and Red Stripe.
Comedians Dufton “Duffy” Shepherd and the “Fluffy Diva”, Miss Kitty will guide the day’s proceedings.
Partners for PAN 2018 are CB Chicken, National Baking Company, Jamaica National Small Business Loans and JN Money Services, Red Stripe, Coca-Cola, Tru-Juice, Wata, Miracle Ketchup, Nupak Aluminum Foil, Monster Milk, TVJ, Walkerswood, Social Development Commission, Main Event Entertainment Group, and Pear Tree Press.
The event starts at 12 noon and runs until 8:00 pm.
