Flash flood warning issued for eastern parishes, St Andrew
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meterological (Met) Service of Jamaica has issued a Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St Mary, Portland, St Thomas and Kingston and St Andrew.
The watch becomes effective until 5:00 pm today.
The Met Service said a trough across Jamaica is currently producing unstable weather conditions.
“Satellite imagery and rainfall data indicate showers and thunderstorms impacting sections of eastern parishes, especially Portland, last night through this morning,” said the Met Service.
The Met Service added that the forecast is for rainfall activity to continue across eastern parishes, which could be heavy at times, then across hilly inland areas during the afternoon.
