Kingston, Jamaica — Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange has congratulated the Jamaica team to the North American Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Senior Championships in Canada, saying their performance was an “exceptional” one.
“Another exceptional performance by Jamaican athletes. Fredrick Dacres and Shanieka Ricketts were particularly brilliant in setting championship records in the men’s discus and the women’s triple jump, which also saw Ricketts defending her title,” Grange said in a release from her ministry.
She added that Jamaica could also feel pleased with the “discus bonus” that came with Traves Smikle taking second place behind Dacres.
“And we have even more to cheer about since overall, Jamaica enjoyed its best performance so far at this NACAC championships, coming away with 21 medals, seven gold, nine silver and five bronze.
“Congratulations to the entire NACAC team, the coaches, manager and support team for so fabulously representing Jamaica,” Grange ended.
