Film enthusiasts and followers of the New Wave movement entered the 6B Skyline Drive chill spot last Saturday for movie night under the stars. To the insta-savvy and freethinking collective, New Wave – a creative platform for the recognition of culture, burgeoning talent, and art – is typically a pop-up social experience. This go-round curators of the scene du jour has added a new component with the screening of the award-winning films Kinto, Fever Dream and Better Mus’ Come .

It was a big night for Kinto – the 15-minute drama set in Kingston, and chronicling the life and times of a 14-year-old protagonist – which had its local premiere on Saturday. In-between takes, patrons enjoyed New Wave-branded popcorn and vegetarian options from the Skyline Levels ital kitchen.

The new wave in film started in 2011 with Better Mus’ Come by director Storm Saulter, which heralded much international success for its breakthrough in local film production. This was followed by the release of Fever Dream , which was directed by his brother Nile and starring popular face Jeff Crossley.
