MONTEGO BAY, St James —MoBay Boys Club Warriors completed a 2-0 win over Darliston Mystros in their Western Basketball Association Men’s Division One competition after a one-point (71-70) win at the Montego Bay Cricket Club in the second game of their best of three semi-final series on Sunday.

Warriors won the first game 80-69 the previous week and will now meet UWI-WJC Jayhawks in the best of three finals set to start on September 2.

UWI-WJC Jayhawks had an easier path to the final after Holland Blue Rebels failed to show up for their first game and, based on FIBA rules, forfeited the entire series.

On Sunday Warriors just held on to beat a late charging Darliston team that recovered from a slow first half to outscore the Montego Bay team 46-32 over the last two quarters.

Warriors got off to a fast start and led by 16 points (26-10) after the first quarter, and were still up by double digits (39-28) at half-time.

With two players achieving double-doubles, Darliston stormed back to cut into the deficit, trailing by four points (49-53). And despite outscoring Warriors 21-18 in the final period, came up just short.

Darren King scored 20 points to lead Warriors, as David Gordon scored 19 points, and Alek Gilchrist had 15 rebounds.

Dylon Hodges led all scorers with 28 points and had 14 rebounds, while Nigel Jackson scored 13 points and had 16 rebounds. Terrence Tate also scored 13 points.
