NWC, NWA collaborate to reinstate Bay Farm Road
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Water Commission (NWC) says it is collaborating with the National Works Agency (NWA) to jointly repave the entire width of Bay Farm Road after the laying of sewers and laterals along the roadway as part of the Bay Farm Road Sewerage Improvement Project.
The NWC reported that ground was officially broken for the Bay Farm Road project in February 2017 and is now approximately 90 per cent complete. Reinstatement is expected to be completed in the next four to six days, the NWC said in a release today.
The NWC explained that while it is responsible to reinstate the approximately 1300m2 of trench area that the laying of new sewers disturbed, the NWA will see to the re-surfacing of the other segments of the roadway.
Construction of the Bay Farm Villas Sewage Conveyance System is said to be part of NWC’s efforts to upgrade wastewater infrastructure in the Corporate Area and to protect public health and the natural environment.
It involved the installation of approximately two kilometres of sewers in total, the NWA said.
