Reggae Girlz defeat Bermuda 4-0
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s Senior Reggae Girlz made it two wins from two games in the final-round of the Concacaf Caribbean Women’s Qualifiers when they blanked Bermuda 4-0 in a lively contest inside the National Stadium on Monday.
The Girlz, who got the goals through the nippy Trudie Carter (17th), captain Konya Plummer (32nd), Khadija Shaw (61st) and 17-year-old Giselle Washington (90+1), maintained their stay atop the five-team play-off on six points.
Cuba, who earlier hammered Antigua and Barbuda 7-0 in the curtain raiser, slipped into second position with a superior goal difference to Trinidad and Tobago, also on three points.
The top three teams from the play-off will progress to the Concacaf Women’s Championship to be staged in the United States from October 4-17.
That tournament will qualify three teams to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be staged in France, while the fourth place team will enter a play-off for a chance to qualify.
