Consistency continues reap results for K D Flyer as the Gary Subratie trainee defied top weight and the harrowing experience of the one draw, to pick up his second win in a five-furlong (1,000m) straight event on Sunday.

The victory by K D Flyer was also aided by a change in equipment as the tongue tie was removed by Subratie for this race and K D Flyer responded well.

With Dane Dawkins in the saddle, K D Flyer showed good dash in the early exchanges but like the rest of the field watched as course addict Runjohnny Run (Oneil Scott) set the splits.

K D Flyer came into play inside the furlong (200m) and got the better of Runjohnny Run and Kanaloa (Linton Steadman) by half-a-length at the winning post.

After a steady run with splits of 22.3, and 45.2, K D Flyer completed the distance in a time of 59.4.

“I knew he [ K D Flyer] had it in him to win but going into the race I was a little concerned about the weight and the post-position. But on second thought, I remembered that he had won with the weight from the two position draw up the straight already.

“So, winning this was not much of a surprise as he is a really good horse. He does have some issues with his legs and if he really had good legs he would have been much further in his racing career than he is at present.” Subratie said.
